Google wants to deliver "relevant" results. Thus if you search for a dentist or dental treatment in a specific location, Google wants to deliver local dental practices.
At the top of Google's results, will appear a map of the location and a list of local dental clinics deemed relevant to the searched keyphrase. Over the past 2 years, Google Local listings have started popping up and are now usually appears above the natural search listings - thus pushing the importance of SEO down slightly!
You need to setup a Google account and register your dental practice in order to control your listing. You then need to make your entry "relevant" by entering information, categorizing your services, uploading photos, embedding videos and much more.
